Guru Dutt (July 09, 1925 – October 10, 1964) was an Indian actor, director and producer. His original name was Vasanth Kumar Padukone. He made some classic movies like Pyaasa (1957) and Kaagaz Ke Phool (1959). Guru Dutt's relationship with actress Waheeda Rehman also worked against their marriage and his wife Geeta Dutt had separated from him as a result.He smoked heavily, drank heavily. He passed away in 1964 at the age of 39 following an over-dose of sleeping pillls, which is widely suspected to be a case of suicide.
