Dara Singh : Ek Tha Tiger

Dara Singh was born as Deedar Singh in Dharmchuck village in Amritsar in British Punjab on November 19, 1928. He went to Singapore and became the Champion of Malaysia as a professional wrestler. He returned to India in 1952 and started career as an actor with movie Sangdil. He became Indian Champion and won the title of Rustam-e-Hind in 1954. He started Dara Film Studio at Mohali. In 1980, he moved to small screen and played Hanuman in Ramayan among other roles. In 1983, he retired from wrestling. In 2003, he became 1st sportsman to be nominated to Rajya Sabha. He died on July 12, 2012
